The Spirit of the Lord is Upon Me

Over the years, and I should say decades, First Baptist Church - Emery has been faithful in supporting missionaries and missions work not only abroad but also at home.  Why?  What about missions work is so important that we as God’s people sense the call to give money, time, and effort towards missions work?  How does the call to missions affect those reached for Christ and how does that same call affect us?
This week, Dr. Jay Moon from Sioux Falls Seminary will be bringing us a message from the Lord from Luke 4:16-19 and Matthew 25:34-40.  Christ called us through the Great Commission to make disciples, but what we may fail to realize is that fulfilling the Great Commission and reaching the marginalized and poor in our society has a great effect on our own discipleship process.  What does this mean?  What does this look like?  Who are we called to reach?  How does fulfilling the call to missions affect my relationship with Christ and my growth into spiritual maturity?  These questions and more will be addressed.
May we prayerfully prepare ourselves for the words the Lord will be giving to us through Jay this week.
